"At Hilltop Farm we’ve had some truly exceptional horses as part of our lives over the years, but even amongst all of them, Qredit holds an extra special place in our hearts. Our story with Qredit (Quaterback x Dream of Glory) began in the fall of 2008 when he moved here as a weanling to join our Raising Program for his then-owner Michelle Reilly.
"Michelle had purchased Qredit from his breeder Judy Yancey in Florida. He is from Quaterback’s first foal crop in North America – in fact he was the first born of that foalcrop! Qredit bears a striking resemblance to his sire – and we see that stamp come through strongly in Qredit’s offspring too.

"As a yearling, Qredit attended a few breed shows with Michael Bragdell – marking the beginning of their partnership. After his first show, we were so impressed with his demeaner and his development, we actually tried to purchase him but Michelle wasn’t ready quite then to sell her colt. Qredit ended the 2009 show season undefeated, including a clean sweep of his classes at Dressage at Devon and earning the Grand Championship of the Dressage at Devon Breed Show! Michael described him as having an ‘on-off switch’. You could fire him up easily when needed, but then he’d relax right back to a supple, swinging walk.

"Over the early winter, Michelle’s career plans changed and we jumped at the chance to purchase Qredit before she could change her mind. As a February foal, he was quite well-developed in the summer of his 2-year-old year so we made the decision to present him to ISR/OldenburgNA for stallion licensing. Despite the young age, he received outstanding scores and we were well-positioned to begin his breeding career the following season.
"Michael started Qredit at age 3 and continued his development into the spring of his 4-year-old year when Chris Hickey took over the ride and was Reserve Champion at the USEF National Championships that summer and placed in the Top 5 at the US Five-Year Old Championships the following season. In between, Qredit was Champion of the 2012 70-Day Stallion Test and was trained by Michael over the winter.

"Beginning in 2014, Michael has been Qredit’s sole rider and together they’ve won numerous USDF Regional Championships, the US Dressage Finals, and many USDF Year-End Awards. Their longtime partnership has been so special to watch develop and their win in the Devon Grand Prix in 2021 was a full circle moment for all of us here at Hilltop.
"Over the years, the whole farm has gotten to know Qredit well. It is one of the most fun pieces of having a horse that has been part of our team for so long and we have had a number of Qredit offspring, grandkids, and even our first great-grandkid just a few days ago! While some horses instantly engage with everyone they meet, Qredit (affectionately known as 'Q' around the farm) is a stallion that likes to pick his people; he likes to have you earn his affection. He loves the big show environments, but doesn’t feel the need to pose for photos or show off for visitors at home. An odd quirk of Q’s is that he has made it clear he does not enjoy wearing blankets and can manage to wiggle his way out of almost any blanket without undoing the buckles. He’s like a Houdini!
"A list of Qredit’s favorite things would likely include:
- his nibble net hay net (he never leaves home without it)
- carrot stretches
- a jolly ball
- Michael – we can’t think of anything Q wouldn’t try to do for Michael"

What an amazing story about Qredit and his history with the team at Hilltop - especially his relationship with Michael. One of these days I need to get there to meet this guy!! I started my riding days at 10 years old with a PRE stallion. He was 'handed' to me by his owner as 'my' horse and he taught me everything for 3 years. He was a beautiful Palomino and truly was my Golden Boy. A special relationship with a stallion is something we never forget. Thank you for sharing this story about Qredit.
